Support our non-profit, volunteer run organization in expanding access to the sport of rowing and getting our community fit and on the water
Coach Amir first tried rowing in the ocean in 2018, heading out of the Mission Bay jetty and rowing north in a 2x with a local rowing enthusiast. He was hooked! The following year, he joined Paralympian Angela Madsen on her open water journey from Long Beach to Catalina in Angela’s Row of Life ocean rowing boat. After Angela passed away during her attempt to be the first paraplegic to cross the Pacific Ocean, Amir became even more passionate about ocean rowing. He has brought that passion to CRSD and will be using it to start the first coastal rowing program in San Diego.
Coach Amir moved to San Diego from the Phoenix, Arizona area. He has taught a variety of science and business classes at community colleges in Arizona and California, and he has recently been a lecturer at SDSU. In addition to his passion for ocean rowing and ocean conservation in general, Coach Amir also loves adventurous ocean kayaking, having taken a kayak out into the Arctic, and has a keen interest in aviation.
