Community Rowing of San Diego
Learn to Row Level 2
After completing Learn to Row Level 1, students can learn to scull with a certified coach.
Service Description
Learn to Row Level 2 will apply the skills learned in CRSD's Level 1 class. You will warm up on the ergs and learn the difference between sweep rowing and sculling. You will then set up your rowing shell with pontoons and learn how to check it over for safety and proper set-up. The pontoons act like training wheels, stabilizing the boat on water. You will then help bring your pontooned shell to the water, learn how to attach the oars, get into the shell, and work on maneuvering the shell around the boat launch with you coach. When you are ready, you will row your shell into the channel and learn how to row up and down the channel, turn, stop, and return to the boat launch.
